The Story of Ajakely, meaning the Fairy Island, began in Madagascar with Monique Ramahay who fell in love with the traditional craftsmanship of embroidery and smocking art.
To share her passion and develop her romantic, fairy-tale like universe she opened a store in the centre of Paris in 2009.
Her expertise and creativity has earned her the nickname "Queen of smocks".

OUR VALUES AND ENGAGEMENT
When creating our collections we give as much importance to style as to comfort. Not only do our dresses offer a chic and timeless style but they respect children’s shapes, growth and way of life. Our little fairies must feel pretty in their outfits but must also be at ease to run, play and have fun. This value goes hand in hand with our choice of fabrics, cuts and patterns. We strive to offer babies and little girls a unique style adapted to their age and size and not a miniature version of their mother’s looks.
An outfit adapted to each circumstance. We wish to accompany babies and little girls from 3 months up to 10 years old in their daily lives but also during the major steps of childhood such as baptism, communion, birthdays and other important celebrations. We provide outfits for every kind of event.
A strong engagement. We are deeply committed in the safe-keeping and transmission of the precious craftsmanship of our very talented Madagascan embroiderers.
We have made the choice of a high quality handcrafted human sized production of which we are very proud.
